Today we hiked for 16 miles over 6.5 hours. My Apple watch says we took 34,000 steps and climbed only 17 flights of stairs. It was a long trek today, similar to yesterday, but a lot less climbing, so we went faster.

The sun was hot, about 82 degrees, and there was limited shade as we crossed a long rocky plain.

Le Dents du la Chemin
50 years ago, the blockbuster movie, Jaws was released. In France it was called Le Dents du la Mer (The Teeth of the Sea). The main character was a great white shark that snuck up behind unknowing swimmers and then attacked them. We’ve decided that Juan Pablo works very much like the great white on the camino. He identifies a group of hikers up ahead of us. Sneaks up behind them. And then engages them in conversation. When he decides that they have nothing interesting to offer, he tosses them aside and moves on to the next group of victims. We saw this in action early this morning.

Speaking of Jaws, our trail today took us through some open plains with large boulders left by receding glaciers. Several of these rock formations look like dinosaur teeth.

I decided that they could also look like shark teeth, so I asked our favorite shark to pose for a picture.

I’ll leave you with a more pleasant picture, as our leader, Stephen looked to the sunset this evening. He’s such a visionary!

Buona Sera
